I just wanted to mention that of all the masters theses defended under my supervision (there haven't been that many) (just counted: 8) all of them got top marks. Well done, My Students!
So, I was recently told that it is sort of unusual to defend with less than an A. Apparently the people at the defense feel awkward about giving a degree to someone who hasn't presented an excellent case for it. Anyway, I retain heart, because my students not only defend with A's but their papers get A's, and most of them have GPAs in the A range. So they're still pretty darned good.
The tally is up to 9, and the average is still an A, verging on A+. Yay!
